Kitchen of Kindness
☀️ It all began by spreading light in Centrepointe. In 2002, Chabad of Centrepointe (under the direction of Rabbi Chaim and Bassy Mendelsohn) opened its doors to bring warmth, community, and acts of kindness to all those they encountered.
Fast for ward to 2017, A Ripple Effect began: Over 300 teens stepped up to make a difference. They delivered homemade meals to families in need, brought surprise gifts to brighten someone’s day, organized trips and fun activities, gave parents a much-needed break, and supported seniors, newcomers, and isolated community members. Through their efforts, these teens learned the power of giving and created a ripple of kindness across Ottawa.
COVID changed everything in 2020, but the teens didn’t stop. Every month, 30–40 volunteers cooked and delivered fresh, kosher meals to families facing illness and anyone needing care. Pots bubbled, ovens glowed, and Ottawa was nourished with love & care.
We are proud to announce that Baruch Hashem - as we enter the Jewish Year of 5786 - we have a brand new Headquarters opening. A Home to finally take A Ripple Effect to a whole new level!

Help us turn cooking for those in need into a movement, a celebration and an action, that ALL of Ottawa can join. Help us open a space where thousands of delicious meals will be prepared with love each month. Where helping isn't a chore, but a joyful anticipated activity.
The CTeen Lounge will be a vibrant, state-of-the-art hub where teens can thrive, make friends, and continue devoting their time to the amazing cause of helping the community. A place to connect, grow, create, brainstorm, enjoy art, music, cooking, and baking, while leading projects like the Kitchen of Kindness and feeling the joy and purpose of making a real difference.
The Teen Lounge will be dedicated in memory of Bassy's dear father, Rabbi Mordechai Berger z"l who impacted and guided thousands of youth throughout his life to believe in their boundless potential and made it his life mission to educate and encourage the next generation of leaders.
